Join Jody Hojin Kimmel, Sensei for an online art practice series focusing on resonance through creativity. Classes take place via Zoom, with dates spanning from March 6 to May 22, 2026. Each session invites participants to explore their artistic expression in any medium, guided by inspiring prompts.
This immersive weekend retreat at Zen Mountain Monastery offers an introduction to Zen Buddhism, with instruction in zazen, liturgy, and body practice. Participants will experience a dynamic spiritual community, simplify their daily activities, and connect with their innate silence and stillness. Guided by experienced teachers, including Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Roshi, and Danica Shoan Ankele, Sensei, participants will learn to establish a consistent home practice, bring mindfulness into their daily lives, and explore the teacher-student relationship. The retreat takes place in the Catskill Mountains, providing a unique and conducive setting for spiritual practice. Participants will have opportunities for private interviews, group discussions, and silent reflection, allowing for a deep and transformative experience.
Join us for the True Refuge Week, an intensive practice retreat designed specifically for formal training students in the Mountains and Rivers Order. Over the course of six days, participants will have the opportunity to explore their personal aspirations within a supportive environment. Engage in zazen, communal meals, and nurturing practices tailored to individual needs, all set against the backdrop of Zen Mountain Monasteryβs serene setting.
Sunday Mornings at Zen Mountain Monastery is a weekly program that offers a unique opportunity for spiritual growth and self-discovery. The morning begins with a liturgy chanting service, followed by zazen, walking meditation, and a talk by a teacher or senior student. Participants can expect a transformative experience in a serene and peaceful environment. The program is designed for returning visitors who have already received beginning instruction in meditation. The monastery is located in Mount Tremper, NY, and offers a beautiful setting for reflection and contemplation. Participants can stay for a community lunch after the program and enjoy the company of like-minded individuals.
Join the sangha for a hike in Harriman State Park, just over an hour from New York City. Expect a moderately-paced 6-8 mile hike with stops for meditation, lunch, and moments to connect with nature. Qualified hike leaders will guide the group through rocky, hilly terrain. Participants will need to bring hiking boots, water, lunch, and snacks. The hike is designed for experienced hikers and will be a full day of adventure. The natural environment will provide a unique setting for self-reflection and connection with the earth.
