This six-week class explores the ethical teachings integral to traditional Buddhist practice, focusing on the 16 Bodhisattva Precepts. Participants will study Robert Aitken’s “The Mind of Clover” and John Daido Loori’s “The Heart of Being” as guides. Joining via Zoom is available. The class runs from March 15 to April 26, 2023, with a suggested donation of $65.

The North Carolina Zen Center holds four Zen retreats, or sesshin, every year, providing a structured environment for dedicated practice. Participants engage in intensive silent retreats, including seated meditation, walking meditation, chanting, and work periods. The retreats take place in a serene setting, with accommodations and vegetarian meals provided. A typical day includes a schedule of meditation, personal time, and opportunities for one-on-one meetings with the teacher. The retreats offer a unique opportunity for individuals to touch their heart-mind and deepen their practice.
