This 4-day workshop, led by Andrew Harwood, explores compositional awareness in contact improvisation. Participants will delve into the core principles of CI, focusing on dynamic subtleties of touch, tone, and weight, and expand their perception to include space, time, image, gesture, and design. Through duet, trio, and ensemble dancing, they will cultivate a lightly held compositional awareness, supporting efforts to connect, find meaning, and engage with innovative possibilities for individual and collective improvisation. The workshop will take place at Earthdance in Plainfield, MA, from September 10-13th, 2026.
